FLOURISHING THROUGH FAITHFULNESS
A STORY OF HOPE FROM THE BOOK OF RUTH
Continuing the narrative that began in the book of Judges, The Book account of Ruth tells the captivating story of a woman named Ruth who remains faithful to God and her family amidst difficult circumstances. This book takes place during the chaotic time of Israel being led by judges and yet it serves as a powerful reminder of how God uses our devotion as a means of grace in causing us to flourish even in the midst of turmoil.Through Ruth's loyalty and noble character, the book showcases the transformative power of God’s faithfulness.
This book provides a stark contrast to the prevailing themes of chaos and moral decline found in the Book of Judges when everyone did what was right in their own eyes. While the book of Judges demonstrates what happens when a community walks away from God’s sacred order, Ruth stands out as a beacon of hope and righteousness to those who remain faithful. The book demonstrates that even in a world filled with chaos, a community can remain faithful to God and experience His steadfast love, guidance, and ultimate flourishing.
Our desire is that over the next four weeks, as we study Ruth verse by verse through The Daily, discuss it together in our Groups, and are taught at our Gatherings, we will take heed to the message of Ruth, encouraging us, and fueled by the grace of the gospel, we would receive grace to remain faithful to God.

Ruth 2 introduces us to a man named Boaz, who is described as a worthy man. We will examine his kind actions toward Ruth and by extension, toward his kin Naomi. Were these acts done just out of obligation to the Law of God? Did he do them for selfish reasons, expecting something in return for his good deeds? Is generosity a spiritual gift one is born with or is it a trait or behavior one should strive to attain?
