We've all been there: traveling down well-worn paths convinced that wealth, power, fame, or control will lead us to fulfillment. But time and again, these roads end up being dead ends, leaving us feeling empty and lost. When the bottom falls out or when everything seems to be going right but we're still left unsatisfied, where do we go from here?
The book of Ecclesiastes offers a unique perspective on this search for meaning. Written by King Solomon, a man who had everything. He had wisdom, wealth, power, and influence. Ecclesiastes is a memoir of life’s big questions. Solomon reflects on his own experiences and the futility of chasing after pleasures, ultimately concluding that these pursuits are like "chasing the wind." His words resonate with anyone who has ever felt the emptiness of achieving everything they thought would satisfy them, only to find that it doesn't.
In this journey through Ecclesiastes, we’ll discover that these dead end paths aren’t new. Many before us have walked them and found them wanting. Together, we’ll uncover how true satisfaction doesn’t come from what the world offers, but from God Himself. When you're standing at a crossroads, trying to figure out where to go next, maybe it’s time to stop following the well-worn paths and choose a new direction—toward the One who truly satisfies.
For the next eight weeks, we will study Ecclesiastes through The Daily, in our Groups, and at our Gatherings.

On Time | Ecclesiastes 3.1-15

We can listen to Ecclesiastes 3 as a popular 1960’s tune that tickles the ear in theory. The difficulty comes in the rest of the chapter when appointed times arrive and disrupt our carefully curated and (seemingly) controlled lives. Longing for things to go the way they ought to is part of our image bearing nature (eternity in our hearts)- there should be peace, but then we read “there is a time for war” or we should never stop trying, but then we read “there is a time to give up.”
Join us this Sunday as Joey walks us through Ecclesiastes 3 to discover the challenges of thinking we are the keepers of time and the incredible freedom that comes from seeing through the situations to a God who has appointed everything in every season for His purposes.
Been There Done That | Ecclesiastes 1.1-11
OCT 6, 2024 | DAVID BEMPONG
Join us this Sunday as we look into the opening chapters of Ecclesiastes, where the Preacher reflects on the fleeting nature of life, comparing it to a vapor: momentary and elusive. We’ll explore how this passage fits into the larger biblical narrative and why our pursuit of lasting meaning often leaves us empty. Ultimately, we’ll see how Jesus offers the fulfillment our hearts crave, pointing us beyond the temporary to the eternal.
